A "candle" to be used within paper lanterns as part of Madame Butterfly at the Royal Albert Hall. The existing lanterns contained a lead acid battery, which had to be removed after every performance and recharged. Stage management found this awkward, and the paper lamps were getting damaged. My brief was to provide an easily removed unit that would simplify the battery changing, whilst retaining the powerful 10 watt halogen bulb. This unit hangs within the lantern suspended from a hook on the supporting bamboo pole. To remove it, it is simply unhooked and lifted out. Please note that all the electrical terminations are insulated, and the unit is protected by an in line fuse, helping to maintain safety.
